AIZ

A platform for Zambian-based Engineers, Environmental Specialists, Resettlement Practitioners, and Gender and Social Inclusion Experts to collaborate towards a common goal of maximizing positive change in people’s lives through any investment.

Our Aim

Keeping with the African ethos that goes, “If you need to go fast, go alone, if you need to go far go as a team”. AIZ brings the harmony of a multi-disciplinary team to Plan, Design and Implement Developmental Solutions that overcome constraints and transform communities for improved quality of life.

Resettlement Planning and Implementation

Development can risk leaving those who do not benefit from it worse off. Our Resettlement team consists of experts in Planning and Implementation of development-induced resettlement with internationally accepted standards, including World Bank’s OP 4.12 and IFC PS 5. Our approach is to work collaboratively with the engineers to avoid/minimize negative impacts in a cost-efficient manner and oriented towards improving the quality of life of the community.

Program Management

Our approach is to Implement, Manage, Administer, Coordinate and as necessary Improve efficient and effective management protocols for successfully delivering a quality program within budget and timeline without compromising the desired project outcome.  Critical to this approach is coordinating effectively with relevant project stakeholders and creating a shared vision sustainably.

Risk Management

AIZ champions risk management planning at the onset of the program starting with a “pre-mortem” exercise that initially identifies threats and opportunities inherent to the program. This adequately prepares the program developers to mitigate the threats and optimize opportunities early in the program and monitor their impacts throughout the program cycle.  As the program evolves, it becomes vulnerable to new risks. Recognizing this, AIZ’s strategy is to review risks periodically and develop mitigation plans, including identifying contingency levels in case risks materialize.

Social and Gender Inclusion

This is the core developmental approach designed to transform communities through improved relationships that draw upon the strengths of all women, men and children. Our approach is to maximize positive impact through understanding how people live, love, play, work, and communicate with one another.

Water related Infrastructure & Instituitional Development

Coupling infrastructure development with institutional development is our fundamental focus in the development and management of water resources and sanitation to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 6 – ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

Skills Building and Development

AIZ’s approach is built on two basic pillars of capacity building – cooperative partnership and mentorship –  to develop the skills and knowledge of young local professionals, empower local partners to take ownership of future programs, and foster growth towards self-sufficiency.
