About Our International development firm

We are a multidisciplinary development firm that provides program/infrastructure planning & management, risk management through the project lifecycle, resettlement planning implementation, and environmental assessment and management through a holistic approach. We believe that a program/facilities planned and designed to foster community transformation, in close collaboration with the men and women whose lives will be impacted, can be effectively implemented and efficiently managed to successfully deliver a sustainable project with optimal benefits.
We are aligned with the paradigm that successful development is fostered by investing in people–not just things. AIZ’s approach is to develop the desired infrastructure as part of a program where the attendant socio-economic and environmental constraints to development are countered in the design and implementation of the program that benefits transforming that community through sustainable investment.

Resettlement Implementation Consultant for the MCC Funded Lusaka Water Supply, Sanitation & Drainage (LWSSD) Project, Zambia

Client:  Millennium Projects Completion Agency-Zambia (MPCA-Zambia)

Duration: Between 2015-2020, the team supported Tetra Tech’s contract with Millennium Challenge Account – Zambia and later the MPCA-Zambia post-Compact.  AIZ was retained to complete the project in 2022 and the project is ongoing.

The LWSSD Project was funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) of the United States government through a $355 million Compact Agreement entered into on 10 May 2012. The project entailed the implementation of nine (9) water, sanitation, and drainage projects across densely populated urban and peri-urban areas in Lusaka, Zambia.  We led a team of young local resettlement, social & gender, community liaison, and engineering specialists to engage nearly 5,000 persons impacted by the project per IFC PS5 standards through a combination of cash compensation, in-kind restoration, relocation, and livelihood restoration for those whose source of income was permanently impacted by this project. We worked in close coordination with the construction supervising and the design engineers and provided input on design changes to minimize impacts and ensure that resettlement activities are accomplished ahead of construction.  Post Compact, the team organized themselves under the AIZ and contracted directly with the Millennium Projects Completion Agency – Zambia (MPCA-Zambia) to continue supporting the resettlement activities to complete the Compact legacy projects.
